I am Promise, craft attendant at Bwindi Children Skills Centre. Normally I study in Mbarara but during my holidays I always help at the children’s centre. In June and July I worked in the craft shop and every day, in evening time, I help the children with their music practice. We practice new songs and dances. And I help them make crafts.
Their coming to the centre helps the directors to know their physical health and their well being in school.
We have been able to sell some of our crafts from the craft shop this season and still hoping to sell more.
We were happy to get some visitors from America on a Sunday morning, who were very glad to have been part of us that day. We started by welcoming them with songs and continued with our local dances. They liked it very much and also the children enjoyed their presence with them.
They promised to inform their friends about our centre and left some donations for the children. Because I am about to leave for my studies, the team organized a farewell party for me. We had a good meal together. I am very happy and blessed to be part of Bwindi Children Skills Centre. Soon I will leave to Mbarara but I will never forget the good times I had in Buhoma. See you later when I have holidays!
