A few weeks ago we had a parents meeting. Once a year we invite all the parents or caregivers of the children to the skills centre to inform them about the development of the centre, what we are doing and share ideas with each other.
First we started with a prayer which was led by a parent who was asking almighty God to guide us in everything going to be discussed at the meeting and thanking the leaders of the children’s centre for the good care and support to their children.
Ronald greeted the parents and thanked them for the big effort to work together with Bwindi Children Skills Centre. And told them that the reason of this meeting is to discuss about the development of the centre with them.
Justus praised the children for their smartness and urged the parents to stimulate the children to go to school and compliment them with their good marks. He also praised the children’s good performance at school and the good discipline of the children at the centre.
Because most children are not sponsored and because of the increase in children, we have to pay a lot of school fees. It is always a big challenge to get enough money. We encouraged the parents to keep praying for the centre.
The parents requested us that, if possible, we take all the children who are in primary level in one school such that the school will be knowing that these are the children from Bwindi Children Skills Centre. This helps the centre facilitate planning and accountability. Also, in terms of tuition, it will be easier to agree with the school if there is a delay. As a team, we are going to think about this.
After the discussion we finished with prayers and had a lunch together.
